Josh brings 15 years of experience working in and with the media.

For nearly a decade, I worked in local television newsrooms as an anchor and reporter, earning awards at the state, regional, and national level for my news coverage.

In 2021 I left television news to move to the other side of the media equation, becoming the senior manager for media relations at a national healthcare organization. There, I conducted research to identify relevant outlets, pitched stories to reporters, oversaw video production, and offered expert advice and media training.

I’ve placed stories in some of the most notable media outlets in the country, including USA Today and the Boston Globe, as well as in major television affiliates in large media markets like New York City, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Philadelphia.

Rachel has worked in a wide array of fields, from interior design to nonprofits, and brings a creative and detail-oriented eye to our work.

I graduated with a degree in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill, and later obtained a Master of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary. Though at first they might seem wildly disparate fields, both degrees - and the various professional experiences that accompanied them - emphasized the importance of clear communication, audience awareness, and creativity. My interior design work encompasses many of the same skills, as well.

No matter the job and no matter the field, I rapidly assumed the unofficial roles of sounding board, writer, copy editor, and proofreader for the office, and that is true for our work at Birch Media Consulting, too - except those roles are official here!
